Sunday 21st September brought sunshine, superb play, and a wonderful atmosphere as members gathered for the Ongar Pétanque Club Finals 2025 — a true highlight of the club calendar.
With the majority of members competing across Singles, Pairs and Triples formats, the day showcased not only competitive excellence but also the camaraderie and sportsmanship that define Ongar Pétanque Club.
Derek Spring Singles Championship 2025
Champion: John Moore

A fiercely contested competition, culminating in an excellent final between two outstanding players.

All our Pairs teams competed in the Finals and produced some excellent matches throughout the day — a credit to the strength and depth of the club.

The standard of play across all formats was exceptional, with close games, tactical brilliance and tremendous team spirit on display. It was especially pleasing to see such strong participation from across the membership.
Following the prize presentation, members gathered at the piste to enjoy a lovely buffet lunch together — the perfect way to celebrate a memorable season of club competition.
Congratulations to all finalists and competitors. The Ongar Club Finals once again demonstrated the unity, pride and sporting excellence that make our club so special.
We now look forward to continuing our regular Sunday sessions and Wednesday practice games through to Christmas, weather permitting.
